Starting with an anniversary or two. 65 years ago today, 1959, it was a Friday. And somehow we tuned to a brand new program, The Twilight Zone. The first episode, “Where is Everybody?,”, starred Earl Holliman as a man who apparently walks into a desert town, not knowing where he is, finding it deserted though there are numerous signs of very recent human presence. He gets increasingly agitated, finally starts going berserk, pressing a button, at which point it turns out he’s an Air Force sergeant Mike Ferris. He's been in an isolation booth for over 484 hours, part of his astronaut training, and sensory deprivation had taken over.
The program became regular fare at our place till 1962. Episodes increasingly offered biting social commentary disguised by the sci fi framing, culminating in my opinion with “The Monsters Are Due on Maple St,” 3/4/60
Here is the very first episode
The Twilight Zone ~ 1959 ~ Original Opening Title ~ UPA Animation
And fittingly, on this date 11 years later (1970), also a Friday, i finished moving into my new apartment in Berkeley, at Berkeley Way and Milvia, a block from downtown. I’ve moved to several other places but have remained a resident of Berkeley since then. And over the last decade or two, Berkeley politics have become a part of the Twilight Zone, with a “left” political establishment using the rhetoric of “progressive change” and “enhanced public health/sefety” has turned the city into a hi rise forest and a location for all sorts of labs and facilities, implementing the 4IR in the form of SMART city surveillance.
Biomedical. Doctors Sam and Mark Bailey talk with Christine Massey
Dr Sam Bailey, Dr Mark Bailey and Christine Massey FOIs, 10/1/24.
In early 2020, the Canadian biostatistician Christine Massey realised that something was wrong with the COVID-19 story. She was motivated to commence investigations into virology and the claimed evidence for the existence of ‘SARS-CoV-2’. This led to the development of the Freedom of Information Act project that revealed more than 200 health and science institutions being unable to cite any valid scientific evidence for the alleged “virus”.
Over time the project has expanded to include other alleged “viruses” as well as evidence that any microbes, including bacteria, have been shown to be pathogenic in controlled scientific experiments. The conclusions from Christine’s research are clear: virology is based on pseudoscience and germ “theory” has been falsified. Her work has caught the attention of the establishment media and she even earned a typically-disingenuous “fact check” article recently.
My husband Mark and I had the privilege to have this relaxed discussion with Christine. We talked about what woke us up in 2020, dealing with mainstream antagonists (as well as those within the ‘freedom community’), trying to get people to see the foundational fraud of “pandemics”, and appreciating some of the wider frauds being perpetuated. It is fair to say that Christine Massey is truly one-of-a-kind, although a few months ago a case of mistaken identity allowed her to blow open the brewing “Avian Flu” swindle!

By the way, the number of response has been updated to 225. Christine Rocks. And so do you, Doctors Sam and Mark Bailey!!
The same question which has come up in other segments came up here: why are some people in the "freedom" community so insistent upon hanging on to viruses and the germ/contagion theories? It's because they are invested in it. This can be financial. It can be emotional, i.e. believed in it for so long they cannot let go. And it can be a matter of perceived credibility, having put forth to the public so much stuff dependent upon it that disavowing it could badly damage their credibility.
Many fans of celebrities just don't want to undermine their heroes, and don't wanna alienate friends of theirs who are still believers.
4IR. The IDF’s incursion into Lebanon is NOT going very well.
Hezbollah battles Israeli forces as Lebanon attacks continue. Israel announces death of several soldiers as UNSC members meet to discuss Iran’s missile attack against Israel. 10/2/24.
Hezbollah says its fighters have battled Israeli forces who crossed the border into southern Lebanon as the Israeli military said at least eight soldiers have been killed in the fighting in Lebanon. “The {Israeli army} announced that seven more soldiers have fallen,” it said in a statement on Wednesday, after announcing the death of a first soldier in Lebanon earlier in the day.
The soldiers were killed in two separate events, military officials said. The statement came as Hezbollah said its fighters were engaging Israeli forces inside Lebanon on Wednesday, reporting ground clashes for the first time since Israel began its ground advance earlier this week. The Lebanese armed group said that after surveilling Israeli soldiers sheltering in a house outside the Lebanese village of Kfar Kila, its fighters detonated an explosive device in the building and then targeted it with bullets and rocket-propelled grenades.
Hezbollah said all members of the unit were either killed or injured, without specifying the number of casualties. There was no immediate statement from Israel. In a statement earlier on Wednesday, it said its fighters detonated an explosive device that killed and wounded members of the Israeli army trying to circumvent the village of Yaroun in southern Lebanon. The Iran-aligned group also said it “destroyed three Merkava tanks with rockets as they advanced towards the village of Maroun al-Ras,” referring to an area where they reported clashes with Israeli troops earlier in the day.
Al Jazeera was not able to independently confirm the claims by Hezbollah or the Israeli military. “Those are two very serious incidents and Hezbollah are now very confident because they have managed to push the Israelis back,” said Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan, reporting from Hasbaiyya in southeastern Lebanon. “They are seeing this as a strategic victory.”
The Israeli military also said ground forces backed by air strikes had killed Hezbollah fighters in “close-range engagements” without saying where. There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah. It also said regular infantry and armoured units were joining its ground operations in Lebanon.
The Lebanese army said Israeli forces had advanced some 400 metres (yards) across the border and withdrew “after a short period,” its first confirmation of the incursion. The Israeli military has warned people in approximately 50 villages and towns to evacuate north of the Awali River, some 60 kilometres (37 miles) from the border and much farther than the northern edge of a UN-declared zone intended to serve as a buffer between Israel and Hezbollah after their 2006 war.
Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said the number of people displaced by Israeli attacks in Lebanon, which escalated dramatically last week, has risen to 1.2 million. More than 1,000 people have been killed, nearly a quarter of them women and children, according to the Ministry of Public Health. On Wednesday, at least 13 people were killed in attacks on southern Lebanese towns and villages, Lebanon’s National News Agency said. Air raids also targeted southern Beirut’s Choueifat area, it said.
Al Jazeera’s Khan said one of the main roads in southern Lebanon that is being used by fleeing residents was bombed again today. “A lot of people have fled those areas and they are doing so in fear and in panic,” said Khan, who noted the road has repeatedly come under attack in recent days. “That’s one of the only ways out of southern Lebanon under those evacuation orders and Israel has bombed it not just once, not just twice, but three times in 48 hours,” he said.
Israel has said it will continue to strike Hezbollah until it is safe for tens of thousands of people to return to their homes in towns and villages near the Lebanon border. Hezbollah has pledged to keep firing rockets into Israel until there is a ceasefire in the besieged and bombarded Gaza Strip.
The intensified fighting in Lebanon came as Israel promised to respond after Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at key military and security targets in Israel. Iran says the strikes were in response to attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and the killing of key officials in Hezbollah and the Palestinian group Hamas. “We will respond. We can locate important targets and we can hit them precisely and powerfully,” said Chief of the General Staff Herzi Halevi in a video statement. “We have the capability to reach and strike every location in the Middle East and those of our enemies who have not yet understood this will understand this soon.”
Meanwhile, at an emergency session at the United Nations Security Council, the US also warned Iran against targeting it or Israel amid rising fears of a wider war in the region. “Our actions have been defensive in nature,” US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the council. “Let me be clear: The Iranian regime will be held responsible for its actions. And we strongly warn against Iran – or its proxies – taking actions against the United States, or further actions against Israel,” she said.
French UN Ambassador Nicolas de Riviere said France wants the Security Council to “show unity and to speak with one voice” to de-escalate the situation. Thomas-Greenfield said the council should condemn Iran’s attack and impose “serious consequences” on Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) for its actions. “We have a collective responsibility, as members of the Security Council, to impose additional sanctions on the IRGC for supporting terrorism, and for flouting so many of this Council’s resolutions,” the US ambassador said.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the council he strongly condemned Iran’s attack on Israel. Guterres said the “deadly cycle of tit-for-tat violence must stop” in the Middle East. “Time is running out,” he told the 15-member council. Earlier Wednesday, Israel had declared Guterres “persona non grata” for failing to specifically condemn Iran’s missile attack when he condemned on Tuesday the “broadening conflict in the Middle East.” “Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel does not deserve to step foot on Israeli soil,” said Foreign Minister Israel Katz in a statement.
In a letter to the Security Council on Tuesday, Iran justified its attack on Israel as self-defence under Article 51 of the founding UN Charter, citing “aggressive actions” by Israel including violations of Iran’s sovereignty. “Iran … in full compliance with the principle of distinction under international humanitarian law, has only targeted the regime’s military and security installations with its defensive missile strikes,” Iran wrote to the council.
At a joint press conference in Doha with Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani inIranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that If if Israel wants to react, “we will have a stronger response.”“We are not looking for war, it is Israel that forces us to react,” he insisted.
Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon on Wednesday rejected Iran’s claim of self-defence. “It was a calculated attack on a civilian population,” he told reporters before the council meeting. “Israel will not stand by in the face of such aggression. Israel will respond. Our response will be decisive, and yes, it will be painful, but unlike Iran, we will act in full accordance with international law.”
And, Electronic Intifada’s weekly news show, for a change a fairly good one.
Breaking news and analysis on day 362 of Gaza's Al-Aqsa Flood | The Electronic Intifada Podcast, 10/2/24, just short of 3 hours.
00:00 Introduction
01:54 Abubaker Abed reports from Gaza
19:36 Discussion on Iran's missile strikes on Israel with Ali Abunimah
50:55 Gaza news report with Nora Barrows-Friedman
59:14 Roqayah Chamseddine reports from Lebanon about Israel’s killing of Syed Hasan Nasrallah and the situation in Lebanon as Israel escalates its bombardment of the country and Hizballah defends it against a possible Israeli invasion
01:38:04 Jon Elmer reports on the latest from the battles in Gaza and Lebanon, along with Iraqi and Yemeni missile attacks on Israel
02:28:23 Group discussion on Iran, Lebanon and Gaza; and where the war could go from here
My comments. Ali Abunimah, who is in Amman, Jordan, played videos he took during the Iranian missile barrage, showing a lit up sky, and large numbers of people on rooftops cheering. He also played Israeli videos showing ground impacts of the missiles at the Mossad HQ in Glilot, between Tel Aviv itself and its large suburban neighbor Hetzliya, Navatim Air Base in the Negev Desert and another air base in the southern part of Gush Dan, aka the Tel Aviv Metro Area. Mainstream news stories that the missile attack was “ineffective” (per Joe Biden) are plain BS.
Very interesting report by Roqayah Chamseddine , a journalist who lives in both South Lebanon and the south Beirut area of Dahiya, and has lived in both Australia and the US (thus, English fluent). At times strident, but i love the defiant spirit. She talked about how the IDF is already getting chopped up when its incursion is not even 48 hours old.
Ending this segment and this edition. the effects of Hurricane Helene, days after its making landfall, continue to be severe.
People Still Unaccounted For After Helene, Death Toll 150. Jan Childs, Tim Harris, Renee Straker, and Nicole Bonaccorso, 10/2/24.Lots of dramatic videos.
As the Swannanoa River rose in East Asheville, North Carolina, Heather Talley, her partner and 7-year-old daughter climbed for their lives. "And it was dark, and it was the height of the hurricane. So the winds were blowing ... trees were falling. And our daughter was just screaming," Talley told weather dot com in an interview Monday. "And we just went on our hands and knees through the mud. I just kept telling my daughter, 'You can do this, you can do this, you can do this.'"
Helene, previously a Category 4 hurricane, swirled around them. The water from the normally shallow river roared like an ocean. Talley and her family stopped at a neighboring house on higher ground not normally adjacent to the river. Strangers there on vacation took them in. She texted her brother to ask him to go online and check the water levels. "He told me that the river gauges were broken and that there was no way to know," Talley said.
It was 10 a.m. Friday morning. Talley went back outside. "And I could see what looked like the Mississippi River about 10 feet below the house," she said. "And I came back in and I told my partner, 'We're not high enough.’" They climbed to another house above them. Again, strangers took them in.
Outside, a neighbor watched another neighbor wash away in a car. "And as the winds died down and the rain stopped, as many people who are physically able came out of their houses," Talley said. "And there were trees everywhere. And people just started cutting up the trees to try to make pathways out. Talley, her partner and daughter made it to a friend of her brother's in another town. By Monday, they were staying with relatives. As for Asheville, she said: "We are not okay."
By Tuesday evening, the death toll from Hurricane Helene had risen to 150 people in 6 states, including at least 64 in North Carolina.
Tennessee, Factory Workers Swept Away
At a plastics factory in rural Tennessee, workers continued their jobs as Helene's drenched the Southeast. Eventually, workers were released and sent home but it was too late for some. Eleven workers were swept away by raging floods and only five were rescued. Two of the missing have been confirmed dead meaning four workers are unaccounted for. One worker who managed to exit the area despite the raging storm shared video of the scene at Impact Plastics on Facebook.
Man Walks 17 Miles To Daughter's Wedding
Dave Jones was about 20 miles from home - and his daughter's wedding - when a police roadblock stopped him. They said he couldn't drive any farther. It was around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Unicoi County, Tennessee, shortly after Helene roared through the area. Nearby, more than 50 people had to be rescued off a hospital roof. Roads were destroyed. Bridges were gone…….
The Long Road To Cleanup
It could take Asheville and other communities years to recover. The storm brought catastrophic flooding, tornado damage, downed trees and other impacts from Florida into Appalachia. More than 1.6 million homes and businesses remained without power Tuesday morning, according to PowerOutage dot us. The number included about 625,000 outages in South Carolina, more than 465,000 in Georgia and almost 375,000 in North Carolina. Florida and Virginia each had around 70,000. The death toll includes 47 people in North Carolina, 29 in South Carolina, 25 in Georgia, 15 in Florida, six in Tennessee and two in Virginia. Some parts of western North Carolina were cut off by mudslides and flooding, prompting officials on Monday to send in supplies, food and water via air. And across the Southeast, many communities are in recovery mode due to significant damage.
Here are our live updates from Monday:…….
Here are our updates from earlier today:…..
'The Devastation Is Unthinkable'
"We know we have areas in Fairview, Black Mountain, Swannanoa and Barnardsville where the devastation is unthinkable. These communities no longer resemble what they were a week ago," said Buncombe County Manager Avril Pinder. "Loved ones are still trapped.” Buncombe County officials said they had received 1,000 reports of people unaccounted for though that number had dropped to 600 by Monday morning, officials told CBS 17. The number was originally anticipated to drop as cell and internet service was slowly restored. It's unclear how many people may truly be missing and how many people are simply cut off from contact with their loved ones. County officials told people to stay away from the area. “Do not come here, we can not accommodate you.”…….
Flood Emergency In Asheville
As Helene barged inland, western North Carolina faced devastating flooding with some areas submerged under feet of water. Other neighborhoods were isolated by standing water or mudslides. “Over 400 roads remain closed in North Carolina,” the North Carolina Department of Transportation said Saturday. “All roads in Western NC should be considered closed.”
The National Guard and local first responders were entrenched in rescue missions as many people were stranded. Search teams were guided by information given in 911 calls and in messages via social media. One rescue mission involved the rescue of 41 people north of Asheville. Another rescue mission was launched to save an infant child. More than 50 search teams were spread throughout the region to search for stranded people.
One woman told the Associated Press that her family in the Asheville area has been unreachable. “I think that people are just completely stuck, wherever they are, with no cell service, no electricity,” she said. Pinder promised food and water supplies would be airlifted to the county, where Asheville is located, by Monday. Sunday night, residents of Black Mountain, North Carolina, were alerted to a possible failure of the Bee Tree Dam. That warning was later rescinded after a FEMA inspection of the dam confirmed its safety.
Federal Government, New York State Offer Assistance….
I'm hearing that Asheville is too high in the mountains for any hurricane to reach it and that this was another "Lahaina" incident due to the lithium. What do you think? And thanks for the reports.
